My Pointon Story

Starting a business is not easy. Being a one-man show with no budget, having to juggle the different aspects of your business is even the more challenging.

I am an Electrician by profession. What do i know about designing a logo for my business, creating my company website, branding, marketing, accounting and all the other aspects of a business? No wonder a lot of business hardly ever make it past the “start phase”.

As for getting a business partner to help you? How do you convince someone to give off their time and skills to growing YOUR business and for free?

These are some of the challenges we faced from the beginning, some of these challenges we are still facing. Notice how I said we? Truth is, Pointon is still a one-man show, that is still a challenge. But how do I make it work? Over the course of the next few weeks, I would love to share these stories with you. I know there are many of you out there with a business who are having these issues too. I would also love to share some of the resources I used to get certain things going for Pointon. More than anything, I would also love to share your stories, what stories relating to the property industry would you love to share with us? Please send them through.

The story of Pointon was built on a passion for people, especially black men and women. I wanted to create a platform that supports the buying of property from black estate agents or black homeowners. Currently, we do this through our Facebook Group. I wanted to create a platform that is your first start point for when you want to buy a home.

When I started with Pointon, I didn’t have it all figured out. We haven’t completely figured out how we are going to do most of the things we plan on doing for this platform yet. But that is okay because ideas don’t come out fully formed, they only become clearer as you work on them. Just get started.” – Mark Zuckerberg.

In fact, I cannot wait to tell you about the number of times I re-branded, regrouped and remade Pointon in 2017 before I got to this place where I am now comfortable with it.

But for now, please Like our Facebook Page and share this post. Your support will be appreciated.

Talk to you all soon.
